This past weekend we teamed up with The Surfrider Foundation and The Sak to celebrate World Oceans Day by hosting an amazing beach clean up at Topanga State Beach in Malibu.

Almost 100 volunteers spent their Saturday morning picking up over 95 pounds of trash from the beach over the course of two hours. Much of this was plastic litter that could have stayed in our marine environment for generations. A majority of the items collected were cigarette butts (800) and plastic food wrappers (113).

Everyone who participated received a pair of shoes from our 4Earth by Blowfish Malibu collection as a thank you.

These events are, hands down, some of our favorites we get to do as a brand. There’s nothing better than getting to meet and see our local community come out and do good for the planet. We love talking to everyone about our 4Earth collection and what we’re doing through our Making Waves Campaign. To date, through the 4Earth project, we have repurposed over 1 million plastic bottles and have donated over $100k to Oceana, an organization that is dedicated to cleaning the world’s oceans! We are so grateful to be able to partner with such amazing organizations and brands that are committed to being socially and environmentally responsible.

Last night, the Blowfish Malibu team celebrated the launch of our 4Earth collection for SS22 at a new hot-spot in Hollywood, Grandmaster Recorders. Friends, editors, and many more gathered to check out the new line, snag a new pair of shoes for themselves and enjoy drinks and bites on a rooftop under the iconic Hollywood sign. Fun fact: every pair of shoes in this collection has an upper made up of recycled plastic bottles and for every pair sold, $1 is donated to the non-profit Oceana.

We’re so excited to be able to start doing in-person events again and can’t wait until the next time we can celebrate out and about in Los Angeles in the near future.
