Just when you think you really know someone…

We’re your go-to for laid back, casual and comfy shoes at affordable prices and we couldn’t be happier about it. But how much do you really know about us, your favorite shoe brand? I think you might be surprised! Read on to discover some little known fun facts about us.
Our humble beginnings started in a little office in Edison, New Jersey where all members of the team (which was only 3 people) worked to run operations, finance and sales. Our design team (all of 1 person) was based in Malibu. We made the move to one single company out of California in 2009!
Though we dream about having an office in Malibu, we are actually based in sunny Culver City, California. One of our founders is from Malibu and you better believe we frequent his house a lot! We are all deeply inspired by the Malibu lifestyle. Have you ever been?
Our original name was just Blowfish for about a year before we lengthened it to Blowfish Malibu. Who knew!?
While we have set our roots in the US, we can be found around the world including France, Canada, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and even Australia. Keep your eyes peeled for us on your travels! And if you’re ever looking for a store, our store locator also includes stores outside of the US.
We have expanded our line to include womens, kids and even toddlers now. Now your little-uns can wear Blowfish Malibu. (See here!) We will be expanding this collection to add more toddlers styles for Fall 2018!
99% of our shoes are made with some sort of easy way to wear them. Our booties include an inside zipper for easy on and off, velcro is used to easily put on a pair of sandals, and even our sneakers have elastic so you can quickly slide them on and off. We’re determined to make your life easy!
Every print you see on our shoes has been designed by our talented team of designers. Whether it’s a floral print or California-inspired, we take pride in knowing no one else has our prints!
Back in 2010, MTV filmed a reality episode of “Hired” at our offices, when we were on a quest for an international sales assistant. The whole episode was dedicated to us, and we did in fact hire someone in the end!
True story! We are happy he decided on a career change, or else maybe we wouldn’t be here today!
Though we love creating, designing, and selling shoes, we also want to offer more. Stay tuned, we have a lot of exciting things in the mix! Maybe one day we’ll be making more than just shoes! 😉

Three ways our favorite fall shoes are getting paired with socks for a cute, layered look.
Fall is one of our most favorite time of year. (Hello Pumpkin Spice Latte!) The festive pumpkin patches, cozy blankets, and heartwarming recipes makes this season one of the most anticipated and beloved yearly occasions. But one of the things we absolutely look forward to each fall is the seasonal evolution our wardrobe undergoes. With the drop in temperature, we are excited to break out our chunky sweaters, favorite denim, and fall accessories as we try out some fresh new looks!
But we’re not stopping there…
Booties + Grey frilly socks
An undeniable fall staple are the booties, the ultimate fave of faves. Plain and simple, friends, we adore them. Add our favorite flannel and skinny jeans, and you’re basically looking at our fall uniform. We paired mid-length grey socks with a ruffle trim to match our Sill bootie to add a charming and feminine touch to our tomboy look.
Sneakers + White fishnet socks
Fall is all about comfort, right? So in an effort to remain comfy, while also staying California-chic of course, we paired our distressed black canvas sneaker, Cora, with white fishnet socks. We topped off this modern look with high-waist structured denim and a pretty blush blazer.
Wedges + Short black frills
We would not be able to get through the season without wedges. I’m sure you fashionistas would agree! For this day-to-night fall look, we paired a fitted black dress and denim jacket with our Breaks wedges and some low black socks with dainty trim peeking out the top of the shoe. The look is casual, comfortable, and uber cool.

We give you a sneak(er) peek into our latest Sneaker photo shoot at the legendary Santa Monica High School.
Nineties inspired grunge, vintage sweatshirts and tees, thrift store finds and laid back vibes. These are just a few of the Fall/Winter 2017 sneaker photo shoot feels. Step behind the scenes to learn more about our latest campaign shoot.
We shot at Santa Monica High School, which sits less than three blocks away from the famous southern California beaches. Enveloped in sunshine and beach breezes, the palm tree-lined SAMO HI (what locals call it) has been home to many different famous athletes, actors, musicians and more. We loved this location because we really wanted to convey the cool California school vibe, and SAMO HI was the perfect choice – I mean, what other schools in the country have year-round outdoor lockers and a beautiful view of the ocean?

Staying true to our brand name, we focused our styling on the “Malibu” girl. This girl’s style is easy-going and relaxed. She is effortlessly cool so retro revival styling was key. Think short floral dresses, ripped jeans paired with a cropped hoodies, and plaid tops with high waisted denim with raw edge hems.

When we scouted the high school in advance, we made sure to look for discreet hang out spots – y’know, like where the “cool kids” would go. Santa Monica High School had a ton of them! (Can you spot them in our campaign?) We shot during school hours, which was interesting because in some locations students were present. We had strict instructions not to photograph any of the students, but we did have a ton of girls coming up to us to say how much they loved Blowfish Malibu. Meeting and talking with those gals made our day!
