Blowfish Malibu Style We Can’t Get Enough Of!

New year, fresh looks. Inspiring style brought to you by some of our favorite Blowfish Malibu babes.

The majority of us use a new year to reflect on the past. Some people may choose to create resolutions and set goals, while others may use this time to simply be inspired.  A new year presents us a clean slate and in turn gives us hope for the future. Out with the old, in with the new, right? These newly set intentions and thoughts weave through various parts of our lives;  from health and wellness, to financial resolutions, travel goals, and style. Because we are fashion-obsessed (duh), this week we’re looking for inspiring, new ways to update our wardrobe for the new year. With every new season, we rely on some of our favorite Blowfish Malibu babes who rock their looks (and their Blowfish Malibu kicks) to encourage fun change.

This means we’re headed to IG to hunt down fresh looks to inspire and revamp our style.

Find inspiration below!

Love Island’s adorable @lauraloucrane is rocking her Ralo boot, available at Office Shoes in Europe. We love how she paired these boots with a leather jacket and vintage tee.

@theangelajones lovessss her Mondo sneakers and wears them while running around Los Angeles any chance she gets. We are totally feeling the camo jacket paired with denim cut-offs. Plus, that high ponytail is killing it.

We don’t think we’ll ever get over the Bungalow sandal (a year-round favorite, if you ask us!), and @lularoeashelymickelson is rocking hers like summer never ended! PS. how amazing is that floral duster!?

@ashleerosehartley is one of the cutest girls on the ‘gram. It’s no surprise we can’t get over how well she styled one of our classic styles: Balla.

We’ve got a massive crush on @jeskenyon and can’t get over how well she styled our beloved Play sneaker. Can we get this outfit for ourselves, ASAP? LOVE the long sweater and sneaker combo.

Comfort + casual + effortless + modern = the perfect look. We love how @jasinez paired her adorable grey slip-on’s with cute denim trousers and an on-trend mustard sweater!

@theclumsytraveler is a great friend to the brand, and she effortlessly rocks our favorite shoes throughout the year. Check her out on the Santa Monica pier in a pair of on-trend neutral booties! They look perfect with her cuffed boyfriend jeans and casual, yet feminine, white tee.

@vanessa_la_blanche is making us feel “50 shades of jealous” with this fresh, winter-approved ensemble. We need grey booties ASAP.

We don’t know what we love more: @jeskenyon in her comfy Play sneakers this season or that yummy latte she’s drinking!

Feeling inspired? Which looks would you rock this year?

Meet some of our Blowfish Boos

Halloween is here(!) so we’re highlighting some of our favorite Blowfish boos.

Okay, we admit it. We’re a little shooketh that it’s actually Halloween, considering we were JUST dancing at Coachella, right? That being said, as sad as we are that summer is over, we’re pretty obsessed with the Fall styles we’re seeing. Furthermore, we’re extra obsessed with how some of our favorite Instagram boos are styling their Blowfish Malibu kicks.

Check them out below!

Angela Jones – one of our favorite LA gals – is rocking the hell out of her Storz bootie. She seriously makes us want these in every single color.

Ashlee Rose Hartley fully embraced fall in both her outfit and the scenery! Can we be transported there right now, please? Her bootie is San Fran and completely convinces us that Leopard is indeed a neutral these days.

My Wee Buddy is SERIOUSLY rocking the Stood Up bootie in Whiskey. How would you wear these bad boys this fall?

Stephanie Wolfe is rocking Kalvin, a red faux-leather sneaker that you’ll never want to take off this season.

The Clumsy Traveler proves that a good sneaker is an excellent choice year-round by wearing PLAY, one our favorite pair of kicks. No joke, we wear these every day.

Erin Rose Official rocked Campfire, a Buckle exclusive, during her epic road trip through the states this Fall. How perfect are these cuties!?

Joining Erin on the road was Mallory on the Moon, who rocked our favorite bootie of the fall, PAULO, also available exclusive.

Zazusworld may be the cutest thing we’ve ever seen in Sanborn, available for our European friends at Office.

Do you have a favorite pair of Blowfish Malibu shoes that you’ve been wearing non-stop? We’d love to see how you rock them, so tag us on Instagram! And who knows, maybe you’ll be featured in the next highlight reel of our favorite gals!

Malibu Mondays with Natasha Mira

We have a serious girl crush on our Blowfish Malibu babe of the week, Natasha Mira.

One thing is for sure. Natasha Mira is one talented girlboss who is constantly on the hustle. Raised in Los Angeles, Natasha spent the better part of the past decade creating content of all sorts, for all sorts. In her limited spare time, she’s a producer, song writer, fashionista and collaborator, partnering with similar creators and producers across Southern California. Oh, and her day job? She’s a Creative Marketing Manager at the legendary entertainment company, Lionsgate. (NBD.) Natasha shapes the creative direction for Lionsgate Premiere’s trailers, key art, and other marketing materials.

We sent her a few pairs of Blowfish Malibu kicks to add to her ever-growing collection. She spent some time running around her favorite spots in California to document her love for the shoes. In her words: “I was able to run all day around Santa Monica Pier, in and out of the sand, and into the ocean and these sandals remained in PRISTINE condition. I couldn’t believe it! I’ve been telling all my friends about how great the brand is.”

Aww, thanks girl! And now, everyone, meet Natasha. You’re about to be as obsessed with her as we are.

How has living in Los Angeles shaped you?

It is definitely a wonderful place to meet like-minded creative people. Studying at USC opened a lot of doors to meeting with filmmakers and creative partners who I still collaborate with today! Although I’ve lived most of my life in California, I would say I have a European soul at heart. My mother, Ilona Europa is Polish, and a singer/songwriter and radio host of her own show Accent On! on LA Talk Radio! Her creative influence has definitely shaped my art, music, and style! (www.ilonaeuropacreative.com)

How would you describe your personal style?

I switch between two extremes! I love tailored, sharp, and structured clothing that has a very polished feel, and then embellish my outfits with strong pieces like a unique blazer or pair of shoes. Ninety percent of my closet is filled with statement shoes and jackets! At the other end of the spectrum, I love whimsical dresses that are effortless and super feminine. It’s fun to play with style and really stand out.

I love how Rachel Zoe plays with fashion. I read an article on her the other day, and she described her style in a few words: “glamorous, timeless, effortless.” I think that sums up the outfits I try to put together for myself as well!

What was the last thing you were obsessed with?

Scones <3

What creative projects have you been working on that you’re excited about? Can you tell us about them?

I’m working on my debut album, CINEPHONIC, which I plan on debuting in the beginning of 2019. CINEPHONIC is truly the embodiment of music I’ve been writing for the past few years. I feel like I’ve been growing and preparing for this moment, and I’m so excited to share my own vision with the world. This is the first project that I’m completely directing. From producing photoshoots and music video shoots, to writing the songs, and to giving notes on the arrangements. I’m touching every aspect of this album.

My first single “Calling Out to Me” was a great introduction to the concept and power behind the word: CINEPHONIC (cinematic/symphonic music), but I think listeners will be surprised that I also have several songs that are more cerebral, subdued, and haunting. The entire album will vary in style and intensity, but they will all have emotive orchestrations with a singer-songwriter melody in common. Check out the video HERE!

I’m working on another music video concept currently with Armand Nour (my cinematographer for Calling Out to Me). I hope to release a few more singles over the coming months to keep everyone up to date on the full album before it debuts! I’m so excited to be working with producers from around the world (Dan Solovitz, Bob Weitz and Ilona Europa– USA, Michael Summ – Germany, Jonasz Wiewior and Patryk Scelina – Poland).

Armand Nour and Jaqui Gaball are also working with me to help shape the photography around my album. They both have very different styles and aesthetics which I love! Working together is really inspiring, and they both were the photographers behind my shoots for Blowfish Malibu! Armand shot me in the yellow sandals and Jaqui shot me in the white Marley sneakers – and I’m so beyond happy with how both shoots came out!

What’s your philosophy on social media and how do you approach it?

I use social media as a way to connect with people around the world, and to make opportunities for myself. I love taking chances and reaching out to brands, talented musicians, and people who inspire me. One of the songs on my album is actually from Patryk Scelina, a composer from Poland who I’ve never actually met. I came across his music online when I was promoting my music video, and fell in love with a song he produced called “Invisible Hero.” Social media provided the platform to reach out to Patryk to collaborate, and I wrote a song to his instrumental. Now “Invisible Hero” will be on my album, and we’re recording in the studio next week. We’ve been able to video chat and discuss the session all through social media, it’s incredible.

Do you have a favorite social media platform?

Instagram and Facebook are my go-tos!

What’s your dream travel destination?

I fell in love with London. My dream would be to live in the U.K. or Poland someday and experience living and working abroad.

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?

Imogen Heap or Lin Manuel Miranda. I think both are creative geniuses and I have so many questions about their creative processes!

What’s your personal motto?

I’d rather be busy than bored!

What are your thoughts on Blowfish Malibu shoes? Do you have a favorite pair?

I’ll be honest. I am obsessed with shoes, but I have a REALLY hard time finding shoes I love that are comfortable. I’ll probably try on 20 pairs of shoes at a store, and none of them fit just right. I was shocked when both Blowfish Malibu’s white Marley sneakers, and the yellow sandals fit me perfectly.

When do you feel best about yourself?

I have a list of goals that I continually add on to with both big and small dreams. Checking things off that list gives me a sense of accomplishment that I’m growing, challenging, and investing in myself.

What advice would you have for someone who’s trying to pursue the same interests as you?

Don’t compare yourself to anyone. There’s so much talent in the world that it can become overwhelming to some people, but I don’t look at amazing people as competition. I see talented people as an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn from their strengths. At the end of the day, if you feel good about what you’re putting out into the universe, I think the world will respond positively to that.

If you weren’t a content creator, what would you be?

I love marketing. When I’m not making content myself, working to promote other artist’s amazing content is what I’m pursuing alongside my own personal dreams.

Fill in the Blank!

I learn the most from: My mother, Ilona Europa!

I can’t live without: GOOD FOOD! I’m a huge foodie!

You can find me shopping at: Zara!!

My astrological sign is: Taurus. I’m 100% a Taurus – but I’m only stubborn if you’re wrong 😉

I’m not scared of: Change.

Most people would say I’m: Loyal.

I’m currently listening to: Imogen Heap, Coldplay, and Woodkid.

My style mantra is: Clothing doesn’t have to be expensive to look expensive.

I feel most comfortable in: A long flowy dress.

When I woke up today I felt: Energized! So many creative projects are in the works, it keeps me inspired.

Most people don’t know: I started teaching dance in middle school and taught for 10 years until I graduated college.

I feel the most free when: I’m walking through the streets of Europe, and exploring new places. Nothing is more freeing than feeling like you can go anywhere in the world.

Malibu Mondays with @getlostwithjackie

For this installment of Malibu Mondays, we accompanied world traveler and NYC blogger, Jackie, of @getlostwithjackie on her day in Malibu.

We are always excited to see where in the world you are wearing your Blowfish Malibu shoes. We love seeing photos of you all rockin’ your fave styles all over the globe. @getlostwithjackie is one of our favorite travel bloggers and Instagram accounts, so we were beyond thrilled to see where she would be taking her Blowfish Malibu shoes next.

Read her story below!

My friends at Blowfish Shoes sent me a few pairs of shoes for my upcoming trips. My adventures started in LA so it felt fitting to break in my new kicks in Blowfish’s hometown of Malibu.

Malibu is famous for its beautiful beaches, big homes and upscale zip-code. While the lifestyle of the rich and famous is always intriguing, I wanted to find a more laid-back vibe with my Blowfish shoes. I did just that when I stumbled upon the popular El Matador Beach State Park.

There were a few picnic tables a short walk from the unpaved, parking lot. The no-frills locale was right up my alley and the perfect spot to stop and take some photos! I started the day wearing my favorite Blowfish Granola sandals in the beautiful hues of nude-steel and grey dye-cut.

These are my second pair of Blowfish Granola sandals (they come in heaps of colors!). My first pair has successfully made it with me to SEVEN countries! These are my favorite sandals because they are fashionable, yet super comfy. I can walk miles in them without feeling any pain!

While my pose in the photo above may say “cool, calm, collective,” I was actually a bit freaked out. The heights of the cliffs overlooking El Matador Beach were crazy! I love the glimmer of the nude-steel color of the Blowfish Granola sandals shining pretty in the California sunshine.

I was actually a little surprised by how chilly it was! Maybe it was the ocean breeze or perhaps my bones were still chilled from the rough New York winter.

Either way, I felt like a closed-toe shoe was necessary for the rest of my exploring.

If you know me, you know I have a thing for rose gold, so it was only appropriate that I slid my feet into the Blowfish Play Sneakers that come in a beautiful hue of rose gold! I love these sneaks because they’re perfect for travel. Who wants to deal with  laces before you head out?! Just slip your foot in and go!

It was hard not to admire my own shoes! El Matador beach was the perfect backdrop for a ‘shoe-fie’ (a shoe-selfie LOL).

Even this little seagull came to check out my Blowfish shoes when he heard, “rose gold sneakers.”

Just south of El Matador are a few vistas where you can stop to see the beautiful views of Malibu. From the beaches to the homes to the palm trees – the whole area is as pretty as a picture! The perfect place to end my Malibu explorations for the day.

If you’re lucky like I was, you’ll get a perfect Pacific Coast gust of wind to blow your hair beautifully for the perfect photo-op.

Thanks for letting us tag along,  Jackie! We’ll catch up with you soon.

Shop Jackie’s shoes here: the Granola-B sandal and the Play sneaker.

Blogger Spotlight: All Eyes on Jen Hsieh

We love a good throwback Blowfish Malibu story, and the one told by long-standing Blowfish gal and all-around awesome blogger Jen Hsieh is one of our favorites. Dating back to 2009, the 26-year-old New Yorker recalls a crush on her first pair of red flats that she just had to get her hands on. Jen’s been a part of the Blowfish family for a while now, and we were lucky enough to start working with her before she became a well-known influencer with over 11k followers on Instagram! Now, nearly eight years later, we sit down with Jen for our Blogger Spotlight interview.

Jen lives in Astoria, Queens with her “floofy cat, Bubba, and a bad case of wanderlust.” You will most likely find her “planning her next trip, slurping down a bowl of ramen, or devouring a plate of buffalo wings.” 😛

Now let’s take a lil trip down memory lane:

Learn more about Jen in our Blogger Spotlight below…

  1. Why did you become an fashion blogger & how long have you been blogging?
The reason I got into fashion to begin with was due to my best friend from high school. We went our separate ways for college and our sophomore year she recommended starting a fashion blog together to stay in-touch (this was in 2009). She eventually moved on since she got super busy but I stuck with it year after year after year.
  2. How would you describe your style?
Casual, comfortable, and simple. I tend to not overcomplicate my looks with accessories, and instead opt for one statement piece per look.
  3. What’s the last thing you were obsessed with?
Grace + Frankie is one of the best shows of all time and nothing gives me more good feels! 10/10. Would watch again. And again. And again.
  4. Do you have another job or is blogging a full time thing?
I work full time at Etsy on their Design team as a Sr. Project and Production Manager. Blogging is purely a side passion that I work on during my off-hours.
  5. If you were an animal, what would you be?
I’m a perfect mix of a howler monkey and Snorlax (the Pokemon) if I’m being truly honest with myself.
  6. What is your favorite social platform to use?
It’s gotta be Instagram. Surprise, surprise! I’m not the best writer so anything that allows me to focus on the visuals and only churn out short-form copy has my vote.
  7. How long have you been wearing Blowfish Malibu shoes?
Since 2009. I remember having such a crush on the Silla Flats and then I finally got my hands on them in red!
  8. Do you have an all-time favorite Blowfish Malibu style?
It’s gotta be theCrawler Sneakers most recently, but a special shout out to my Jackie Boots from 2011.
  9. What’s your dream destination?
Next up on my list is sailing around Thailand. Someone take me, please?
  10. What’s your motto?
    F_ck sh_t up.

Thanks Jen! We will catch up with you soon!
