Malibu Mondays: Malibu Wine Safari
We are proud to present a new segment on the Journal: Malibu Mondays! Every few weeks, we will explore a new corner of Malibu to share with you all.
We are starting off our new series with one of our favorite places in Southern California, Malibu Wine Safari.
Yes, you heard that right and, yes, it is that amazing. Malibu Wine Safari is family owned and operated since the 1970s and offers an afternoon of complete fun. Nestled in the rolling hills of Malibu, it’s a wine-tasting safari with exotic wild animals like zebras, alpacas, bison, camels, llamas, and even a giraffe. An open air safari vehicle and guide drives you throughout the gorgeous property where you have the pleasure of meeting, petting and feeding the animals. Hot tip: ladies, dress comfortably and I suggest leaving your heels at home.
Along the route, you will stop at beautiful shaded areas for a few rounds of wine tasting.
All of their wines are sourced locally, and capture the true essence of the Santa Monica mountains and carefree Malibu culture. There are many great wines to be tried, but honestly I was a little more excited about getting to know Stanley the giraffe, a retired Hollywood star! If you are already obsessed with him like I am, you can check out his own Instagram account.
This month I spent my birthday here with a big group of all my besties in LA. We spread out on the grass at the Malibu Wines cafe with a hearty picnic basket stocked full of snacks. I had one of my favorite birthdays ever, spending the afternoon basking in the sunshine with delicious wines, as a live band played in the background. I honestly can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday! Now, I seriously consider spending every weekend here.
