Girl’s Night Out: LA Edition

There’s nothing better than a night out with your gal pals…

The benefits of friendships are endless. Emotionally and psychologically, the relationship we have with our friends is one of the most important. Friends stick with you through thick and thin and make you feel less lonely. They can help you reach your goals but also give you a reality check when you need it. They need you and you need them. But as we get older, our lives become busier and the ability to spend time together becomes more of a challenge. But don’t worry, friends, that’s where we come in!

To help inspire you to spend more time with your girlfriends, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite things to do and places to go in the LA area.

Honestly, what’s better than spending a night out on the town with your girls? And, just for kicks (get it?) we paired our favorite shoes to wear to each event! Check it out below.

For Dinner:

The options for food in LA are endless. Regardless of food restrictions or budget, there’s a cuisine for everyone!

If you’re in Malibu, Cafe Habana Malibu should be on the top of your list. A go-to for celebs, this Cuban inspired restaurant is located directly off of the Pacific Coast Highway. It’s an easy drive for anyone who is looking for a bite to eat after a long day spent at the beach with your favorite people. We’re not exaggerating when we say everything is good; the shrimp tacos, the goat cheese quesadilla, and (YES) the churro ice cream dessert.

If you’re in downtown LA, you HAVE to stop over at Broken Spanish. This food is some of the best Mexican food we’ve ever tasted. (The chili relleno literally has my mouth watering at the thought of them right now.) The ambiance is great, the drinks are strong and best part yet? It’s within walking distance of The Staples Center. So if you’re headed out to a concert or Lakers game with your gals, this is a great option to stop at to grab a bite (and several margaritas!) beforehand.

If you’re on the West Side, The Misfit in Santa Monica is a MUST. The food is undeniably delicious. Try their Jalapeno Mac & Cheese, or their Misfit Burger (with egg!). Their brussel sprouts are a thing of pure beauty and to top it all off, they finish every meal with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies… smothered in sea salt. (Ugh, yummm.) Not to mention, their happy hour is a great choice if you’re trying to pinch some pennies.

If you’re in the Valley, Carnival Restaurant is mouth-wateringly good. A tiny Middle Eastern spot in a strip mall, this restaurant is always packed and parking is no different (seriously, Uber over if you can). Their hummus is the thing that dreams are made of, their french fries are on another level, and their chicken kabob will make you hungry just thinking about it. Seriously, this place is bomb. Your friends will thank you. Afterwards, be sure to go bar hopping along Ventura Boulevard.

So what would we wear on a girls dinner date?…

The HYDRO wedge would be a perfect option for any of the above restaurant choices. First of all, it’s cute, but dressy. Furthermore, it’s a heel, but incredibly comfortable. The HYDRO wedge will be a great option for whether you’re just grabbing dinner, or if you wind up some place else afterwards. Not to mention, it literally goes with any outfit.

For Drinks:

If you’re in Malibu, take a chance and splurge a little on cocktails at Mastro’s Ocean Club on PCH. A short drive from the beach, this spot sits on the ocean, giving you pristine views of the Pacific Ocean at sunset. The view alone makes the prices you pay on the cocktails worth it. An added bonus… if you get a martini, they make you enough for two (and leave the shaker at your table to drink at your own pace). Go here for the stellar view and the delectable butter cake. We admit we’ve done it more than once.

If you’re in DTLA, make a stop over at Perch. Downtown is quickly becoming THE spot for roof top entertainment. Sip on a glass of chilled wine and eat a delicious cheese platter while you take in the views of Pershing Square and the financial buildings below you. Not to mention, if you go at Happy Hour, you can enjoy $6 glasses of wine and lots of handsome men in suits. Just saying….

If you’re on the West Side, make a stop over at The Corner Door in Culver City. A neighborhood favorite, The Corner Door is known for their chill vibes and excellent mixed drinks. Most of the clientele are regulars who make their way over after work. Their happy hour is top notch – and don’t forget to try the avocado toast!

If you’re in the Valley, The Sherman is a great bar, with great vibes. They consistently have a deal where if you buy two drinks, you get one free. So, if you’re doing a night out with friends, this is the perfect way to save a few bucks while having a good time on a Friday night. Fun Tip? Walk up the stairs in the back and find yourself in a bit of a speakeasy. Make your way a little further. Because you will eventually make your way to a mini outside terrace. Talk about a beautiful way to spend the evening enjoying the great California weather.

So, what would we wear for a girls night out for drinks?…

The PAULINE Bootie is the ideal choice for any evenings out and about in bars with your friends. A covered toe is a necessity when you’re out grabbing drinks. (Anyone else had their toe stepped on by a bar patron? Not so fun.) The stacked heel provides added comfortability because (let’s be honest) there’s no promises that you will be able to snag a table. Paired with jeans or a dress, The Pauline is your go-to.

For Entertainment:

If you’re in Malibu, no Saturday is complete without a stop at Malibu Wines. It’s a favorite stop for many Los Angeles locals who feel like getting out of town on those hot summer nights. Many evenings in the summer, they play movies in the winery. Bring a picnic, crack open a bottle of Cab, and enjoy a great night or afternoon out with your girlfriends. (Read more about Malibu Wines here!)

If you’re in DTLA, make a stop over at Breakroom 86. Located at the Line Hotel in Koreatown (make a stop at The Commissary upstairs for Sunday Brunch at some point), the entrance for Breakroom 86 is through an old school vending machine. This bar is themed impeccably and there’s nothing like it in LA. Part karaoke bar, part breakdancing club, Breakroom 86 is a massive throwback to the ’80s. Make a stop on your way out for some alcoholic ice cream, and if you are looking for a change of pace, play any of the arcade games that are scattered throughout the venue.

If you are in Hollywood, make sure to spend an evening at Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Yes, a cemetery. No, it’s not scary. Cinespia has become a legendary place for showing old movies, which is projected on the side of a building. This is, hands down, one of the most fun evenings you can spend on a summer night in LA. Bring a dinner picnic, bring as much wine as you want, and bring as many friends as you can count. Just don’t forget your lawn chair! Keep an eye out for the themed photo booth that matches the movie they’re showing that night.

So, what would we wear to any of the activities mentioned above?…

The WICKED Slip-On sneaker (available exclusively at Journey’s!) is the obvious choice for any of these stops throughout your tour of LA. It’s light-weight, it’s comfortable, and it literally goes with anything. Pair with some shredded blue jeans and a white tee for Malibu Wines, or slip on with a short black dress and oversized denim jacket for a night on the town. When you’re planning on having a good time comfort is key. Consequently making WICKED the best choice for any venue.
