5 Easy Breakfasts for Each Day of the Work Week

Take the stress out of your mornings with these five easy breakfasts for the girl on the go.

I don’t know about you, but I constantly feel like I’m running so far behind in the mornings that I completely skip over a quality breakfast. Many nutritionists say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it kick starts your metabolism and helps you burn calories throughout the day. Numerous studies have also concluded that eating a nutritious morning meal lowers your body mass index, increases brain power and performance, and decreases bad cholesterol.

In an article written by Rush University Medical Center, Christy C. Tangney, PhD, a clinical dietitian at RUMC and an expert on the effects of diet and nutrition on heart health says, “much of the research just makes good common sense. If you start with a healthy, satisfying meal in the morning you’re less apt to nibble on less nutritious things during the day, which we often do out of hunger — you grab the first or easiest thing in front of you.” While these studies teach us about the importance of eating breakfast, many of us continuously find ourselves skipping this meal altogether.

But, no more! In an effort to make healthy choices in the morning, we’ve assembled five easy breakfast ideas for you to grab and go in the mornings.  Plus, they are so easy to make!

Hard Boiled Eggs

We know these seem like a no-brainer in the mornings, but it’s shocking how many people forget about this healthy option. Hard boiled eggs are a) easy to do and b) incredibly inexpensive. I typically boil a dozen eggs on Sunday night and then grab them on my way out in the morning. Simply sprinkle a little bit of Everything But the Bagel seasoning on them, or (if you’re feeling fancy) add some sliced avocado for an energizing breakfast to start your day.

Overnight Oats

We’re big fans of oatmeal and overnight oats are a fun way to keep your breakfast interesting and full of nutrients! Prep your overnight oats the night before by adding oats, yogurt and fruit to a mason jar. Secure with a lid and let the oats soak over night. Grab it from the fridge on your way to the office in the morning. P.S. we’re dying to try out this pretty recipe.

Keto-Approved Egg Bites

One of the main reasons I typically skip the first meal of the day is because it’s so hard to find healthy food to eat in the morning. Many of us like to try different diets and Keto has been a fan favorite in the office. Enter these incredible egg bites, available at Costco. These guys are delicious and keto-approved, and are significantly less expensive than the egg bites we usually pick up at Starbucks on our morning coffee run.

Smoothie to Go

It’s official, the NutriBullet is my new best friend. There are gals in the Blowfish Malibu office who spend practically no time in  the morning to make a delicious shake. They bring them to their desks, and the best part is that their smoothies are packed with nutrients. Add the fruits and veggies of your choice, some ice and some almond milk, and you’re good to go! We found this purple smoothie recipe that boasts almost 38 grams of protein for you in the morning!

Avocado Toast

At this point, if you’re a Californian, you’re pretty much obsessed with avocado toast. Added bonus to this West Coast fave? It’s SO easy to put together. Grab the ingredients at the store and leave them in your work fridge for easy access. Simply prep it in your work kitchen in the morning. Throw on our favorite Everything But the Bagel seasoning and some deli meat for some added flair to this simple, but effective, morning meal.

What would you add to this list? We’d love to know!
