The 5 Best Beach Speakers of 2018

No beach day is complete without tunes. Here are our five favorite outdoor speakers to keep you jammin’…

Just imagine…

The weather is perfect, mid-80s with a slight breeze. You and your friends find the ideal location to post up and spread your blankets on the soft sand. The sun feels warm on your skin. You start unpacking the beach totes… magazines, books, towels, and sunscreen. Your bestie opens the cooler and starts pouring everyone a glass of chilled rosé. Crackers, cheese, and fruit are beginning to be passed around and you think, “ugh, could this day be any better?” But then, wait, what’s that? Is that the sound of a car crash in slow motion? Or maybe someone is using dial up internet nearby? A garbage disposal? Confused, you start looking around and then you see it. It’s the sound of music being played by an iPhone.

Friends, don’t let this happen to you. Don’t let a perfect beach day be ruined by the lousy quality of sound being blasted from a tiny cell phone speaker. We’ve all been there (no judgement!) and sometimes there isn’t any other option. However, we would love to offer a little assistance. Below are our five favorite outdoor speakers that will ensure a smooth beach day so you can get back to the things that really matter. Like that chilled glass of rosé!

We took a few things into account when deciding on the best speakers. For example: quality, price, and features. The speakers highlighted below are easily portable, wireless, waterproof (or water resistant), and hook up to bluetooth.

JBL Charge 3

The JBL Charge 3 will give you the best bang for your buck. The battery lasts 20 hours and the wireless range is over 30 feet. Not only does the speaker allow you to charge your phone in a jam, it can pair three phones to Bluetooth at once. The sound is clear and loud, with a strong bass. The IP rating is IPX7 which is ideal. Meaning, it won’t fry under the sun or drown in the water before 30 minutes and three feet of water. Buy the JBL Charge 3 for $147 on Amazon.

UE Wonderboom

If you are looking for something smaller that can easily fit into your bag, the UE Wonderboom is it. Approximately the size of a grapefruit, this speaker packs a punch and weighs less than a pound! The battery lasts just 10 hours on one charge, but the wireless range is over 100 feet. The convenient, circular style presents 360 degree of balanced sound and allows for multipoint bluetooth pairing. Buy the UE Wonderboom for $62.99 on Amazon.

 JBL Link 20

According to WIRED Magazine, the JBL Link 20 is the best portable speaker out there. It has a ton of features, including bluetooth and wi-fi, as well as has the ability to float. The waterproof speaker also has built-in Google Assistant which will have you saying, “hey Google, play California Girls by the Beach Boys” or “Google, what time is sunset today?” The sound is rich, clear, and deep. Buy the JBL Link 20 for $200 on Amazon.

Bose Soundlink Revolve

This sleek speaker is not waterproof but has an incredible sound for such a small size. The clean, loud, balanced sound is due to the omnidirectional acoustic deflectors, which blasts music perfectly in all directions. The battery lasts 12 hours on one charge which will easily provide music all day. (And you will have some extra battery left for the sunset ride home on your beach cruiser!) Buy the Bose Soundlink Revolve for $179 on Amazon.

UE Megaboom

The UE Megaboom is all about big noise. This speaker is a larger size with a simple design. The battery lasts 20+ hours and the wireless range reaches over 100 feet so you can wander and mingle without losing the tunes. The UE Boom has a rich sound with a very strong bass. If you want to blast your music, this speaker is for you. Buy the UE Megaboom for $146 on Amazon.
